On this day 143 years ago, Queen’s Park were at the Kennington Oval in London for a challenge match with FA Cup semi-finalists Old Carthusians.
Queen’s took a first half lead through Willie Anderson from an Andrew Holm free kick. The Spiders dominated the second period and doubled their advantage when Eadie Fraser was on the end of a cross from Harry McNeil.

The first ever match between Queen’s Park and this afternoon’s opponents St Johnstone took place at the Recreation Grounds in Perth on Saturday 10 April 1886.
A Spiders’ side composed of a mixture of first and second team players won 5-0 before a crowd of around 2,000.
