ON THIS DAY

WITH FRANK McCROSSAN

1928

On this day 98 years ago, Queen’s Park beat Hibernian 6-1 in a Scottish League First Division match before a crowd of around 15,000 at Hampden Park. The goalscorers for the Spiders were Jimmy Crawford (2), Bob Gillespie (2), Jimmy McAlpine and “Bunty” Macdonald.

In an Inverness derby, Caledonian drew 1-1 with Citadel after extra time in a third attempt to settle their Scottish Qualifying Cup third round tie.

HIGHLAND HERO

Spiders striker Nikolay Todorov is one of two former ICT players in the Spiders ranks. Can you name the other?

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Congratulations to Michael Ruth, who has been voted Player of the Month for September in association with Buck's Bar southside in Cathcart Road.

The striker scooped 27% of the poll, ahead of Ross McLean (20%), to follow July/August winner Jack Wills.

SPIDERS QUIZ

CAPTAIN'S ARMBAND

In association with QPSA one young fan will receive the captain's armband pitchside post-match.

Young Oren caught the eye with his QP sign last season and landed the souvenir.

Keep an eye out for Euan Murray or Louis Longridge at full-time!

INVERNESS OLD BOY

Loan utility man Ben Brannan is the other former Inverness player in the Spiders ranks.
